I’ve drawn and painted on and off since the age of 14. Work commitments in telecommunications for most of my working life made it difficult to give full attention to making art. Now that I have retired and every day is a holiday, I try to spend at least a few hours a day painting. Water mixable oils, Acrylics and Hard Pastels are my preferred mediums. I find the quick start up and clean-up times a real help on busy days.
For years when working, if something wasn’t done correctly it didn’t work. The thing about painting is that it isn’t an exact science. There is no right or wrong way, it’s just a matter of opinion. Even If the worst happens, you can always paint part of it out and start again. I find painting a means of relaxation which also exercises your mind, but most of all it’s fun.
